Police, Cameroonian robs businessman 6M at gunpoint
Three police officers Constables Wilson Cheruiyot, Daniel Kipkorir, Alex Kandie and one Cameroonian national attached to the Kayole police station have been arrested for allegedly robbing a Narok businessman Ahmed Osman Maalim of 6 million Kenyan Shilling (KSh) at gunpoint.
According to a police report, the four were arrested on Wednesday, January 22, after robbing the businessman.
“Ahmed Osman Maalim had been robbed USD 60,000 and immediately raised an alarm where police on patrol responded and arrested four suspects.
“Upon conducting a search, it was established that three of the said gang were police officers attached to Kayole police station,” read the report in part.
The patrolling officer managed to recover KSh 3.5 million but one police officer identified as Police Constable Mwaniki of Kayole managed to escape with the remaining cash.
The suspects were ferried to Pangani Police Station in Nairobi as investigations into the matter kicked off.
Confirmed reports indicated that Mwaniki has a pending case at Starehe and police have launched a manhunt for him.
