Nasarawa lawmaker, 3 others abducted in Kaduna


A member of the Nasarawa Assembly representing Nasarawa Central State Constituency, Hon Ismai Danbaba, his driver and two others have been kidnapped.

Danbaba was kidnapped on Saturday evening while traveling to Jos, Plateau state for a workshop alongside his driver and two others people in his vehicle.

The Chairman, Nasarawa State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information, Mohammed Omadefu, confirmed the incident in Lafia on Sunday said the lawmaker was abducted along Akwanga/Jos road close to the forest in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He explained the kidnapped legislator had passed Andaha in Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa State heading to the forest area in Sanga local government area of Kaduna when the kidnappers ambushed and whisked him away.

Omadefu, who represents Keana State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), informed our correspondent that the lawmaker’s abductors had already contacted the House but were yet to make demands.

He said: “The lawmaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Ismail Danbaba, who is representing Nasarawa Central, was kidnapped yesterday in the evening while he was on his way for an official function along Akwanga/Jos road in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer, Nasarawa State Police Command, ASP Ramhman Nansel, he said the incident did not occur in Nasarawa State, so he would not comment on that.

He said: “Please, contact the Police Public Relation Officer in Kaduna state.

“Nasarawa State command is not aware of any such incident.”
