Man, 38 remanded for stealing neigbhour’s phones

A 38-year-old, Ibrahim Badmus has been remanded by an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly breaking into his neighbour’s house and stealing two cell phones.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi, who did not take the plea of the defendant ordered the remand, and directed that the case file be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

Ogunkanmi, thereafter, adjourned the case till Aug. 21 for mention.

Badmus of Ita – Baale area, Mapo, Ibadan, was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, breaking and entering as well as stealing.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Sikiru Opaleye, had told the court that Badmus and one other person at large conspired together to commit the offences.

He alleged that Badmus at about 2:45am on March 26 broke into the house of one Abike Olajiire, 50, and dispossessed her of two Android cell phones valued at N46, 000.

According to the prosecutor, the complainant alleged the defendant used a knife to threaten her and her daughter to dispossess them of the cell phones.

He said the restoration of public power supply enabled the complainant to identify the defendant as her neighbour before he fled the scene.

Opaleye said the offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 411 (1) (2) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
