Gunmen attacks Prof. Soludo, kill 3 policemen, abducts commissioner in Anambra

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and a gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Charles Soludo is lucky to be alive.
On Wednesday armed gunmen stormed Isuofia Town Hall, in Aguata local government area of Anambra state where Soludo was holding a meeting with the youths killing three policemen and abducting one other person identified as his aide.
According to an eyewitness, while many were injured, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities was abducted by the gunmen.
This is coming ahead of the Anambra Governorship election which would hold November 6, 2021.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the horrifying incident, Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, Chairman of All Soludo Support Groups has said the attack is politically motivated.
“What happened to Professor Soludo is politically motivated. And it is calculated to discourage him and all his supporters ahead of the election” Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, told BBC Pidgin.
“The attack happened between 4pm and 5pm after Prof. Soludo has finished his consultation with Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. The officers that died were trying to protect professor Soludo and one of his aides were kidnapped.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas has led a crack team of Police Operatives for on-the-spot assessment to the venue of the incident.
The assailants were resisted by security Operatives present at the event and in the ensuing gun duel, three (3) Police Operatives sustained severe gunshots injuries and were later confirmed dead in the hospital, while their corpses have been deposited in the mortuary.
In his response, he thanked the Commissioner and his team for the quick response.
“To this end, the CP while condemning the act, commiserates with the family and friends of the Officers who paid the supreme price, has ordered the immediate launch of a tacit investigation to unravel the mystery behind the incidence as well as bring perpetrators of the barbaric act to book. He also called on Ndi Anambra to join hands in the fight against Crime and Criminality”.
