Ize-Iyamu chides Obaseki over call for Oshiomhole’s arrest

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has questioned the recent call for the arrest of the National Chairman of the party by Governor Godwin Obaseki through his Deputy, Philip Shaibu.

It would be recalled that the Deputy Governor had stormed Abuja to submit a petition to the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Security to arrest Oshiomhole for insistently causing political unrest and flouting the ban placed on political campaigns in the state.

Ize-Iyamu while receiving concerned founding members of the APC from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria in Benin City, the Edo State capital described Oshiomhole as a National leader who is always ready to receive defectors. He then questioned the authority of the state government to declare a ban on campaign.

According to him, “The National Chairman has been on the forefront of receiving all those who wants to come and join the party and that is why they are now telling the police to arrest him.

“I don’t know who banned rally in Edo State, I have been secretary to Government, I have been Chief Of Staff, I have not seen any law that says a governor or deputy can wake up and ban rally. Edo State is not under a state of emergency” He remarked.

In his remarks, Vice Chairman of the APC in Cross River State, Cletus Ogun said it is disturbing that Edo State is now in the news for the bad reason due to the greedy quest of the handlers of the party.

Ogun who lauded Ize-Iyamu for his contribution to the APC dues as the former Vice Chairman of the defunct ACN and a member of the committee that drafted the document for its merger declared the groups support for his political aspiration.

“Ambition coming from you is well placed and well positioned”.

“We shall not fail to pray for you, to work with you and to support you” Ogun said.
