BIZZARE: Man hangs self after stabbing wife, children to death

A Salem County, New Jersey man Eugenio Severino has stabbed his wife and two young children to death inside their home before hanging himself 5 miles away in the woods, according to a preliminary report from the medical examiner.

Investigators found the bodies of Ruth Reyes, 30, her 5-year-old daughter, Euriany, and her 2-year-old son, Eury, in the Penns Grove Gardens apartment complex in Salem County on Wednesday, local police confirmed to CBS Philly.

They decided to check on the home after a passerby reported a man’s body discovered in the woods off Sportsman Road in Carneys Point, the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office told the outlet. Authorities believe he died by suicide.

Once officers identified the man, they went to his last known address, where they found the slain woman and children, the outlet reported.

“You see prosecutors kicking the door because they must have been knocking and nobody answered,” a neighbor who did not want to be identified told the station.

Police are investigating the case as a possible murder-suicide, WHP-TV reported.

The couple had been living apart, and Reyes went to the authorities a few weeks ago because her husband had threatened to kill her, NBC Philadelphia reported.

She had a restraining order in place against her husband, Penns Grove Police Chief Patrick Riley confirmed to the outlet.

The family was originally from the Dominican Republic and had moved to the US for better opportunities, a relative told the station.
