R&B singer August Alsina 27 on Friday’s episode of Young Money radio with Lil Wayne, confessed that he still misses and loves 48-year-old actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
Alsina and Lil Wayne discussed the “No Love” singer’s newly released album The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy, as well as his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith.
When Lil Wayne asked Alsina if he still loves Jada, he gave a hearty laugh and replied, “Absolutely.”
“I feel like when you experience a certain type of experience on this planet and you experience a certain type of love, I will always have love for her as a person.”
Alsina also maintained his claim that Will Smith gave him his blessings to the relationship.
“As two men, we had a conversation and that’s what it was,” he said. “Everything I spoke on in my initial interview … is my truth.”
He also denied the allegations that he was using the couple for publicity and only chose to share his story during the promotional run for his album and documentary.
“… People may say, or it’s looking like, I’m doing something for attention—absolutely, absolutely. Not. What’s perplexing to me, I never think it’s anybody’s business to know my personal business …. But when my personal business starts to affect my livelihood—I lost partnerships because it looked like I was pressing on someone’s wife.”
August Alsina agrees with Jada Pinkett’s use of the word “entanglement” to describe their relationship. In an interview with Vulture published on Friday, August, who said he hasn’t watched the full episode of the Red Table Talk show but had seen “small clips floating on Instagram”, said that their relationship was indeed “complex and difficult”.
“I don’t know why that word is such an issue. I would agree [with Jada]. If you look up the definition of “entanglement,” it is a complex and difficult relationship. It was exactly that,” Alsina told Vulture.
“I think it’s just the language that probably stuck out to people. But I definitely have to agree with it being an entanglement. It definitely was something complicated, a complicated dynamic.”
The dating rumours between August and Jada was revived and given momentum after the singer sat down with radio host Angela Yee on The Breakfast Show on 30th of June. Alsina told Angela that Will gave him his blessing to have a relationship with Jada.
During last Friday’s Red Table Talk, Jada vehemently denied allegations – made by August – that Will had given him permission to engage in a romantic relationship with Jada.
She said she had an entanglement with Alsina.
‘I guess about four and a half years ago, I started a friendship with August. We actually became really, really good friends. It all started with him just needing some help, and me wanting to help his health and mental state,’ she explained.
‘I got into an entanglement with August…a relationship, yes, absolutely,’ said Jada verbatim, as Will sat across from her.
‘Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity and I was really able to do some really deep healing.
‘And as I came through and started to realize certain things about you and I, he decided to break all communication with me which was totally understandable. And I let that be and hadn’t talked to [August] since so it is a little weird that all this stuff is coming out now since this was several [years ago],’ said Jada.
Jada and Will have since repaired their relationship and have ‘really gotten to that new place of unconditional love.’
The couple – who wed in 1997 – share 22-year-old son Jaden and 19-year-old daughter Willow.
