The Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma-Edo State has matriculated 6,600 students admitted in the 2019/2020 academic session, with a charge on them to key into the university’s vision of excellence in learning and character.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Ignatius Onimawo said the matriculated students were those that came out successful after rigorous screening of the over 15,000 candidates that chose AAU as first choice in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Prof. Onimawo assured the fresh students that they had been admitted into the best academic culture, hence were sure of a well rounded tutelage in learning and character.

He said the university was making huge investment into building future leaders of the country, and tasked the matriculants to be focused, diligent and committed to their studies and training.

“The First Lady, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari is an alumna. Two of the present federal ministers are alumni.. You are therefore being admitted to participate in solid legacy of innovation, achievement, breakthrough and success”, he said.

He declared that AAU had become the best state university in Nigeria, adding that his administration was working towards achieving its goal of becoming one the 10 best universities in the country.

He cautioned them to shun all anti social behaviours and evil associations such as cultism, warning that cultism was evil because Satan is the patron of cultists.

The vice chancellor equally declared that his administration had eliminated examination malpractices through the use of ICT, as all 100 level, 200 level and part of 300 level examinations were Computer Based Examinations, hence there was no room for cheating, marks trading and the likes.

High point of matriculation ceremony was the administration of matriculation oath, performed by the University registrar, Sir Chris Adamaigbo.
